What Is a CSC Plate?
A CSC plate, also called a container safety approval plate, is a data plate attached to a shipping container. It displays key information about the unit's approval, identification, manufacture, and weight-related data.

What you may find on a CSC plate
Container identification number
The unit number that identifies the container and should match your documents.
Date manufactured
When the unit was built, often shown as month and year.
Maximum gross weight
The maximum combined weight of the container and its contents.
Allowable stack weight
The load the unit is rated to carry when stacked.
Racking test load
A rating relating to transverse racking test values for the unit.
Manufacturer or owner/operator information
Who built the container, and in some cases the owner or operator details.
Safety approval and reinspection information
Approval references and, where shown, reinspection or examination dates.
